It's that time again . . .

Each quarter, LABIC hosts a prize competition that provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative products, technologies, or services in particular industries.

 

LABIC's 3Q Black Business Pitch Competition will be held on July 19th at Sip & Sonder, located in Downtown Inglewood.  Up to 10 finalists will be selected to compete in the live pitch event, where finalists will pitch their products and ideas to a panel of expert judges and compete for amazing prizes.  Past prizes have included free consulting sessions with top VC fund managers and LABIC partners, automatic entry into an accelerator program, a one year subscription to Entrepreneur Magazine, AMEX gift cards, and more!

 

Early Bird: $10.  General Admission: $15.  More at the door.

Sonya Kay Blake

Director of Community Business, Mayor's Office of Economic Development


As the Director of Community Business, Sonya serves as the Los Angeles Mayor's policy adviser on small business startup and growth, and his primary outreach representative to the small business community. She formerly served as the Governor's Small Business Advocate, CEO of the National Association of Women Business Owners in Los Angeles, and a small business startup consultant to aspiring entrepreneurs in South Los Angeles.

Bradley Edwards

COO, Pacific Pro Football

 

Bradley is the Chief Operating Officer of Pac Pro Football, overseeing day-to-day operations for the league. Bradley was most recently Director of International Media Business Development for the National Football League, where he prospected for new opportunities and managed nearly nine figures in revenue annually across 50+ strategic partnerships for distribution of all NFL TV and digital media. Prior to his time at the NFL, Bradley structured negotiations at Disney and ESPN Media Networks, and spent time at MIT, Allen & Company, and Morgan Stanley.

Delane Parnell

Founder & CEO, PlayVS

 

Delane is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PlayVS, the venture-backed startup building the infrastructure for high school esports. In June 2018, PlayVS announced a $15M Series A led by NEA, the largest ever for a black founder in the consumer internet industry.  Delane previously worked at IncWell Venture Capital where he became the youngest black venture capitalist in the U.S. Delane was then part of the early team at Rocket Fiber that raised $31M. While there, Delane founded Rush Esports, an esports team that was acquired by Team Solomid.
